Providence Senior Housing

Providence Senior Housing is the reality of a dream conceived by co-sponsor Providence Foundation of San Francisco and brought to fruition by nonprofit developer and co-sponsor Christian Church Homes of Northern California. This senior community offers 50 one-bedroom, service-enriched, independent-living apartments for residents age 62 and older whose income is at or below 50 percent of the Area Median Income. All apartments are adapt-able or accessible, and equipped with special design features to help seniors successfully “Age in Place.” Funding for this project was provided by the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency, and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Section 202 Supportive Housing for the Elderly program.


As a private, nonprofit corporation, Christian Church Homes has been Providing Affordable Quality Housing in Caring Communities for 47 years. CCH is dedicated to meeting the needs of low-income seniors with limited housing options through new housing development, property management, and on-site social services coordination.

 

Each one-bedroom apartment includes a bedroom, dining room, living room, and full kitchen complete with Energy Star appliances. All units are accessible and adaptable, have private entrances, individual climate control, Internet and cable television wiring, and are equipped with senior safety features such as grab bars and emergency pull cords. Providence Senior Housing employs a specially-trained Social Services Coordinator to connect seniors with vital community services that allow them to live independently for as long as possible, often avoiding early hospitalization and costly nursing homes.

Grand Opening Event

Providence Senior Housing, an apartment complex for low-income seniors, celebrated its Grand Opening on November 9, 2008 at 4699 Third Street (corner of Third Street and Newcomb Avenue). This new federally subsidized facility offers 50 one-bedroom apartments for senior citizens age 62 or older whose income is at or below 50 percent of the Area Median Income, and no resident will pay more than 30% of their monthly income for rent and utilities. Funding for this project was provided by the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency, and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Section 202 Supportive Housing for the Elderly program.
