The
Providence Foundation of San Francisco is the non-profit, charitable
arm
of Providence Baptist Church (PBC), a 2,000-member congregation that
has
been a cornerstone of the predominantly Black Bayview-Hunters Point
Community
for more than 60 years.
The
Foundation was established by members of the PBC congregation in 1996
to
address the multiple concerns of the Community's low-income
residents.
The Foundation seeks to improve the Bayview-Hunters Point Community by
implementing a comprehensive and systematic approach to the needs of
residents
regarding education, training, housing, nutrition and the welfare of
our
children.
The
ultimate goal is to foster the type of individual and Community
self-reliance
that results in dignity, respect and support for safer neighborhoods.

Statement
The
Providence Foundation of San Francisco (Foundation) is a 501(c)(3)
organization established to:
- Improve
the quality of life of low-income residents in the Bayview-Hunters
Point
Community.
- Promote
the self-reliance of Bayview-Hunters Point residents.
- Promote
the strength of Bayview-Hunters Point families and improve the
livability
of our neighborhoods.
- Prepare
our youth to assume the responsibilities and relationships of adult
life.
To accomplish
this mission, the Foundation has implemented programs that offer a
variety
of supportive services for children, families, seniors, and the
homeless
in the Bayview-Hunters Point Community.
The
services provided by the Foundation demonstrate a concern for community
issues as well as the ability to meet community needs. These programs
represent
the new driving force in the philanthropic community.
